Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders is a vibrant, design-led hotel located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, offering guests a unique blend of local culture, exceptional dining, and immersive experiences. Our signature restaurant, Beso Restaurant & Bar, delivers an authentic Spanish dining experience with locally and internationally sourced seasonal produce, expertly prepared by our talented chefs.

We are currently seeking a motivated and professional Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team and support the delivery of exceptional guest experiences while leading and mentoring our front-of-house team.

Position Overview

As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring a warm, efficient, and memorable experience for every guest. You will provide professional leadership, support team members in delivering high service standards, and work closely with the Restaurant & Bar Manager and Executive Chef to maintain operational excellence. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional passionate about guest service, team development, and operational success in a dynamic hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Returns:

  • Support the management and control of profit and loss elements, monitoring budgets and controllable expenses.
  • Assist with stock management, inventory, purchase orders, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive promotions and initiatives that enhance guest dining experiences while achieving revenue targets.
  • Ensure safe handling of cash and secure closing of the restaurant.

People:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the front-of-house team to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee daily operations to ensure optimal staffing levels and efficiency.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support team development initiatives.
  • Ensure team compliance with payroll, hygiene, and presentation policies.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment across departments.

Guest Experience:

  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences, responding to requests and resolving complaints promptly.
  • Support quality and satisfaction goals, ensuring every guest interaction exceeds expectations.
  • Analyse guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and drive loyalty.

 

Responsible Business:

  • Collaborate with the R&B Manager, Director, and Executive Chef to align restaurant operations with the business plan.
  • Support marketing programs, menu planning, and promotional initiatives.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure safety and security of food, beverages, and equipment.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the team and business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in restaurant or food & beverage operations within a hotel or high-volume dining environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of hospitality systems and operational procedures.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
