Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team at Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the Food & Beverage operation by assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and is committed to delivering exceptional food experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation in line with menu specifications and kitchen standards.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and delivered in a timely manner during service.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and ensure correct storage of food and ingredients.
- Reduce wastage through proper stock control and adherence to kitchen procedures.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and WHS guidelines, including HACCP and food handling standards.
- Prepare mise-en-place and support the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Attend team briefings, training sessions, and actively contribute to a collaborative kitchen environment.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Support colleagues during busy service periods to ensure an excellent guest dining experience.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Passion for hospitality and delivering high-quality food experiences.
