Position Overview:
As a Demi Chef within our Culinary Brigade, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional, creative, and locally sourced gastronomic delights for our guests. You’ll work alongside an enthusiastic and skilled Culinary Team under the leadership of a talented Head Chef to shape the success of Hotel Indigo Brisbane’s first culinary offerings. You’ll be involved in all aspects of food preparation and will help ensure our food experiences are exciting, innovative, and memorable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team and provide training and guidance to junior chefs.
- Oversee a section of the kitchen (pastry, butchery, fish, sauces, vegetables, etc.).
- Contribute creative ideas to the menu and food offerings.
- Ensure the highest quality standards in food preparation and service.
- Maintain positive relationships between the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
- Uphold HACCP guidelines and hygiene standards.
- Respond to guest requests, offering suitable alternatives when needed.
- Keep up-to-date with kitchen developments and menu presentations.
You Will Have:
- A passion for creating memorable food experiences.
- Experience with Japanese food styles/service (preferred).
- A Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or similar qualification) is mandatory.
- Strong verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Impeccable hygiene, grooming, and presentation.
- A strong work ethic with the flexibility to work a rotating roster over seven days.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
