About the Role
As a Handyperson, you will ensure the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and guest areas are maintained to the highest standard. You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Manager, responding promptly to maintenance requests and contributing to a safe and efficient hotel environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Report system faults to the Maintenance Manager and support preventative maintenance programs.
• Conduct daily lighting checks and maintain the guest swimming pool.
• Clean and maintain hard-to-reach areas such as ceilings, light fittings, and air-conditioning filters.
• Inspect and service high-use items in guest rooms (doors, window openers, remote sensors, shower screens).
• Perform touch-up painting as required.
• Respond to maintenance requests within 30 minutes and communicate any delays.
• Complete urgent repairs promptly to minimise out-of-order room downtime.
• File job sheets for all work performed to maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe.
• Maintain par stock levels of essential room hardware.
• Recommend improvements to systems and procedures.
• Perform minor building, plumbing, and tiling repairs.
• Inspect plant rooms for cleanliness and proper function.
• Support cost-saving initiatives and recycling efforts.
• Follow maintenance schedules and manufacturer instructions.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery or components.
• Maintain safe work habits and comply with all safety procedures.
• Store flammable materials correctly.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before repair work.
• Carry required tools and communication devices at all times.
• Report major faults, hazards, or unusual findings immediately.
• Manage waste and grease trap maintenance.
• Liaise with centre engineering for Fire/Life/Safety compliance.
• Induct contractors, verify documentation, and maintain contractor registers.
• Keep SDS registers up to date.
• Assist with engineering risk compliance checklists.
Qualifications & Experience
• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar maintenance or trade role.
• Strong knowledge of safe work practices.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve general maintenance issues.
• Basic skills in plumbing, tiling, painting, or building repairs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
