The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function at voco Queenstown.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, compliance, asset protection and operational reliability of the hotel. You will oversee preventative maintenance programs, contractor management, capital works, sustainability initiatives and compliance requirements while ensuring our facilities remain safe, efficient and guest-ready at all times.
This is an exciting opportunity for a maintenance professional who enjoys balancing strategic asset management with hands-on operational leadership in a dynamic hotel environment.
This is a permanent full-time position with a minimum and maximum guaranteed hours of 40 per week. The salary for this position is $75000-95000 per annum and the role is based in Corner of Stanley Street and Sydney Street, in Queenstown Central, New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach and develop the hotel maintenance team.
- Support team capability through training, mentoring and performance management.
- Collaborate closely with department leaders to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
Maintenance & Asset Management
- Manage all day-to-day engineering and maintenance activities.
- Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs across plant, equipment and hotel infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain asset condition and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building management systems.
- Support refurbishment projects and capital expenditure works.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable New Zealand health, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.
- Lead emergency preparedness and risk management initiatives.
Financial & Sustainability Management
- Assist with budgeting and capital planning.
- Manage maintenance expenditure effectively.
- Monitor utility consumption and energy performance.
- Drive sustainability initiatives and environmental best practices.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a maintenance leadership or management role.
- Experience within hotels, hospitality, accommodation or commercial property environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building services, plant and equipment maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors, projects and budgets.
- Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational ability.
Highly Regarded
- Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, building services or a related discipline preferred but not essential.
- Experience within globally branded hotels or international hospitality environments.
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy management programs.
