About the role
We are looking for a talented Business Development Manager – Meetings & Groups to join our team and drive total revenue and performance across the Meetings & Groups segment within the EVT Connect portfolio of midscale hotels. This customer-focused role will build strong client and partner relationships, generate demand, maximise opportunities and deliver commercial results. Working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, you will bring influential communication, strong market awareness and a proactive approach to continuously enhance the customer experience.
Key responsibilities
• Execute the annual sales plans for the Meetings & Groups segment, contributing to budgeted revenue and profit outcomes.
• Partner with Revenue Management to optimise pricing, improve conversion and identify opportunities to outperform the competitive set.
• Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline and campaign information in Delphi CRM, using insights and clear actions to close performance gaps.
• Drive demand through proactive sales activity, networking, trade shows and EVT Connect events, building strong market relationships.
• Own and grow key agent and client relationships, with specific responsibility for Meetings & Groups revenue and pipeline for hotels with meeting space.
• Build effective relationships with General Managers, Revenue, Operations, NSO and external partners to strengthen reputation and business opportunities.
• Maintain disciplined sales processes, including pipeline hygiene, proposals, response times and follow-up, to improve conversion and customer experience.
• Deliver a fast, customer-focused response by ensuring quotes are completed and provided within 24 hours, while using feedback and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications & experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Conference, Meetings & Events Business Development Executive or similar sales role.
• Experience being accountable for sales accounts and client relationships, with a proven ability to generate and retain business.
• Experience in a multi-property or cluster commercial role, or demonstrated ability to manage priorities, stakeholders and reporting across multiple sites.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present persuasively to internal and external audiences.
• Familiarity with CRM and marketing/reporting tools such as Delphi, Salesforce or similar, with strong data discipline.
• Qualifications in Hospitality, Business or a related field are preferred.
• Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with sales, marketing, revenue and operations teams.
• Flexible, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
