Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team at Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the Food & Beverage operation by assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen standards, and ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to a high standard. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and is committed to delivering exceptional food experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation in line with menu specifications and kitchen standards.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and delivered in a timely manner during service.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and ensure correct storage of food and ingredients.
  • Reduce wastage through proper stock control and adherence to kitchen procedures.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and WHS guidelines, including HACCP and food handling standards.
  • Prepare mise-en-place and support the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Attend team briefings, training sessions, and actively contribute to a collaborative kitchen environment.
  • Maintain high standards of personal presentation, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Support colleagues during busy service periods to ensure an excellent guest dining experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering high-quality food experiences.
