The Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen operation, delivering outstanding food quality, and creating memorable guest experiences. You will champion innovation, operational excellence, and team development while upholding the Vista Hospitality Group’s core values of Passion, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver innovative menus and food presentations across all outlets and events

  • Lead special events, promotions, and celebrations to showcase culinary talent

  • Ensure kitchen and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards

  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the kitchen and stewarding teams

  • Conduct regular pre-shift briefings and monthly department meetings

  • Train and mentor apprentices and team members

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture

  • Manage food costs, menu pricing, forecasts, and stock control

  • Monitor budgets, P&L performance, and food cost reports

  • Implement cost controls without compromising quality

  • Work closely with Finance and Hotel Management on budgeting and capital planning

  • Drive revenue through creative promotions, events, and activations

  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to strengthen brand presence

  • Maximise all food & beverage revenue streams

About You

You are a confident, guest-focused leader who leads by example and brings creativity to the kitchen.

You will have:

  • Trade qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef (or higher)

  • Experience managing and developing apprentices

  • Strong financial acumen, including menu pricing and food cost control

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

  • A creative, innovative mindset with a passion for excellence

  • Knowledge of Hospitality Award conditions

  • The ability to thrive in a high-pressure, achievement-oriented environment
