We are now seeking a passionate and driven Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team and support the delivery of exceptional food experiences in a fast-paced luxury hotel environment.
Position Overview
As a Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation. You will play a key leadership role within the kitchen brigade, assisting with food preparation, production, cost control, and team development while maintaining compliance with food safety and WHS standards. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, creative, and ready to take the next step in their culinary leadership career.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and support daily kitchen operations including food preparation, production, and service.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards across all food offerings.
- Assist in menu development and improvements in collaboration with senior culinary leaders.
- Lead, train, and develop kitchen team members through coaching and hands-on support.
- Support rostering, performance management, and team development activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards across all kitchen areas.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, WHS procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, ordering, inventory control, and minimise waste.
- Assist in controlling food costs and supporting kitchen profitability targets.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labelling of all food items.
- Support payroll-related compliance including timesheets, overtime, and leave tracking.
- Oversee final food presentation and plating before service.
- Handle guest feedback and support resolution of food-related concerns where required.
- Support maintenance and reporting of kitchen equipment and operational issues.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performance kitchen culture.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required.

What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a high-volume or luxury hotel environment.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Leadership capability with the ability to train and support team members.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Passion for food, creativity, and delivering high-quality guest experiences.
