About the role
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel during the overnight shift, delivering exceptional guest service, completing end-of-day financial balancing, and ensuring the safety and security of the hotel.
You’ll be the main point of contact overnight, supporting guests with check-ins, check-outs, enquiries, and ensuring all nightly audit processes are completed accurately.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome late arrivals and assist early departures with a warm, professional approach
- Manage guest check-ins, check-outs, and overnight enquiries
- Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain a calm and welcoming overnight atmosphere
- Ensure guests leave with a positive impression of the hotel
- Complete nightly financial balancing and reconciliation procedures
- Run end-of-day reports and prepare management reports
- Reconcile room revenue, payments, and transactions accurately
- Ensure all system updates are completed correctly
- Prepare handover notes for the morning team
- Monitor hotel security and safety throughout the shift
- Conduct regular property checks as required
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of lobby/front desk areas
- Support housekeeping or other departments when required
- Ensure overnight operations run smoothly and efficiently
Qualifications & experience
- Previous hotel front office, night audit, or customer service experience preferred
- Experience using hotel PMS systems, Opera experience highly regarded
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable approach to overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement
