About the Role

As Assistant Night Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring guest safety, service excellence, and accurate financial processes. Acting as a key support to the Night Manager and Front Office leadership team, this role combines operational leadership, guest engagement, and detailed night audit responsibilities to ensure a seamless transition into the new business day.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Night Audit

  • Support the Night Manager and Front Office leadership in completing all revenue, expense, and audit tasks accurately
  • Conduct the Night Audit process in line with hotel procedures and checklists
  • Balance credit card terminals with the PMS, including revenue and refunds
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in guest folios
  • Prepare and distribute required night audit and financial reports
  • Maintain strict controls over cash handling, floats, keys, credit, and inventory
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis against budget and forecast

People & Leadership

  • Ensure team members are prepared for morning shifts, meeting grooming, uniform, and readiness standards
  • Train and support team members in brand standards, service behaviours, and regulatory compliance
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments
  • Ensure accurate and detailed shift handovers
  • Participate in hotel briefings, meetings, and required training sessions

Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, professional, and personalised guest service throughout the night
  • Respond promptly and effectively to guest requests and complaints, escalating when required
  • Maintain accurate hotel logs and ensure clear communication between shifts
  • Conduct routine inspections of public areas and address issues immediately
  • Build positive relationships with guests, tenants, and internal teams
  • Support IHG Rewards recognition and enrolment targets
  • Ensure reservations, arrivals, and inventory are accurately managed in the PMS

Safety, Compliance & Responsible Business

  • Ensure compliance with all IHG Brand Safety Standards
  • Support WH&S initiatives, emergency procedures, and crisis management
  • Act as a key contact during overnight emergency situations
  • Maintain awareness of fire, evacuation, first aid, and emergency response procedures
  • Champion hazard identification, reporting, and corrective actions
  • Ensure hotel security and data privacy standards are upheld

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous supervisory or night audit experience in a hotel environment
  • Strong financial, auditing, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Calm decision-making ability in time-sensitive situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven leadership capability and ability to manage complex situations
  • High energy, guest-focused mindset
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or similar (preferred)
