Position Overview

As the Assistant Night Manager, you will support and cover the Night Manager as required and take full responsibility for hotel operations during the night shift. This includes overseeing guest experience, hotel security, financial and audit processes, and compliance with brand and regulatory standards.

You will act as the key overnight operational leader, ensuring the smooth and safe running of the hotel while maintaining high service standards across both brands.

Brand-specific training will be provided during your first three months.

Key Responsibilities

Night Operations & Financial Control
• Oversee hotel operations during the night shift in the absence of senior management
• Conduct night audit procedures, revenue checks, and system reconciliations
• Ensure accuracy of revenue, expenses, credit card transactions, and guest folios
• Maintain strict compliance with cash handling, credit, purchasing, and security policies
• Prepare and distribute nightly reports to relevant stakeholders
• Identify discrepancies, risks, or irregularities and action them promptly

People & Leadership
• Supervise overnight team members, ensuring presentation, punctuality, and performance standards are met
• Support coaching, training, and development of team members
• Promote teamwork and effective shift handovers
• Assist with recruitment, performance management, and disciplinary processes when required

Guest Experience
• Act as the primary guest contact overnight, managing enquiries, feedback, and complaints
• Ensure guests receive prompt, professional, and personalised service
• Maintain hotel logs and ensure effective communication with incoming shifts
• Oversee Food & Beverage operations overnight when required
• Drive IHG Rewards recognition and engagement

Safety, Security & Compliance
• Ensure hotel safety, security, and emergency procedures are followed at all times
• Act as the central contact during overnight emergencies or incidents
• Support WH&S compliance, incident reporting, and risk management
• Maintain awareness of crisis management, fire safety, and emergency response procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience as a Night Auditor, Front Office Supervisor, Assistant Night Manager, or similar role
• Strong understanding of night audit, revenue control, and hotel financial procedures
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions overnight
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Experience using Opera or similar Property Management Systems
• Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays
• Full working rights in New Zealand
