Sage Hotel Wollongong is a contemporary 168-room hotel located near the stunning southern coastline of NSW. We are currently seeking a passionate and professional Cook to join our culinary team and support the delivery of high-quality food experiences while maintaining brand standards.

Position Overview

As a Cook, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences while working collaboratively within the kitchen team. You will support food preparation, production, and presentation while maintaining professional standards and ensuring compliance with food safety and WHS requirements.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to delivering high-quality food and service in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items in line with hotel standards and recipes.
  • Work rostered shifts as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef, demonstrating flexibility when required.
  • Maintain high food quality, consistency, and presentation standards at all times.
  • Participate in departmental inductions, training sessions, pre-shift briefings, and team meetings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, equipment, and storage spaces.
  • Ensure correct storage, labelling, stock rotation (FIFO), and minimisation of wastage.
  • Report equipment faults, maintenance issues, or hazards promptly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accommodating guest requests and support the team in delivering exceptional service.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and management.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, WHS, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Follow safe manual handling practices and operate equipment in accordance with guidelines.
  • Comply with all hotel policies including workplace conduct, anti-discrimination, and equal employment opportunity standards.

  • Food Safety Certificate (NSW) or willingness to obtain.
