About the role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead Groups & Meetings sales at Kimpton Margot Sydney and Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point. This on-site role will focus on driving new business opportunities, converting business pipeline and working closely with the operations team to deliver a best-in-class conference experience.

The Business Development Manager will manage client relationships, conduct site inspections, and follow up on quotations and pipeline opportunities. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong presence at the hotel.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and convert a pipeline of enquiries into confirmed bookings
- Conduct daily reviews of enquiries, follow-ups, and pipeline with Director of Sales and GM.
- Meet clients on-site for their events, conduct site inspections, and ensure operational alignment.
- Collaborate with digital marketing to maintain a healthy flow of enquiries.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends, identify opportunities to grow revenue and market share.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, meeting planners, and professional conference & event organisers.
- Work closely with hotel operations and sales teams to ensure exceptional client experiences.
- Act as a mentor to junior sales staff, supporting development and sharing expertise.
- Act as a trusted advisor for clients, ensuring expectations are exceeded.
- Communicate client requirements clearly to all relevant hotel departments.
Qualifications & experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of Groups & Meetings sales experience in a hotel of similar or larger scale.
- Proven ability convert enquiries into bookings and driving revenue growth.
- In-depth knowledge of Groups & Meetings sales within luxury or lifestyle hotels, including pipeline management and client conversion strategies.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of the sales process, and collaborate effectively with hotel operations and sales teams.
- Flexible and adaptable work approach, able to manage reactive sales priorities while supporting broader hotel objectives.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior sales staff, providing guidance and performance feedback.
- Proficiency with hotel CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and standard office applications.
