We are currently seeking motivated and professional Cook to join our culinary team and support the delivery of high-quality food experiences while maintaining brand standards.

Position Overview

As a Cook, you will work under the guidance of the Head Chef or designated supervisor to support food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations. You will ensure compliance with all health, safety, and brand standards, while helping create exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional passionate about culinary excellence, teamwork, and delivering memorable guest experiences.

This role will be working on a 7-day, 24-hour roster, 30 hours per week minimum to a maximum of 55 hours per week. The hourly wage for this role is $29.15 per hour.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes according to hotel standards and SOPs.
  • Maintain buffet setup and food quality throughout service periods.
  • Monitor and control stock, reduce wastage, and assist with receiving and storing goods.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in all kitchen areas.
  • Adhere to Food Safety Plans and complete all required documentation.
  • Develop and maintain cohesive working relationships within the kitchen and wider hotel team.
  • Respond promptly to any guest requests or issues, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Attend briefings, training sessions, and team meetings as scheduled.
  • Follow OH&S policies, emergency procedures, and use appropriate PPE.
  • Be flexible to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Head Chef or designate.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of all kitchen areas, including workstations, storage areas, and equipment
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment in accordance with hygiene and safety standards
  • Maintain waste disposal, recycling
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen supplies in line with FIFO procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and reliability at all times

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year and 6 months of relevant experience in a hotel of similar or larger scale.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, creative kitchen environment.
  • Passion for achieving high standards in food preparation and service.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Possess or willing to obtain a New Zealand Food Safety Certificate (Level 2 or 3).
