About the Role
As a Duty Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel. Your leadership will directly impact team engagement, service quality, and profitability. You’ll support the Hotel Manager with day-to-day operations, supervise and mentor staff, and ensure all brand standards and regulatory requirements are consistently met.
You’ll also be expected to foster a positive work culture, resolve guest issues promptly, and deliver operational excellence across all departments, with flexibility to assist at other hotels within the region as required.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Operational Performance
- Maximise revenue and control costs using IHG systems and procedures
- Ensure compliance with audit and cash handling policies
- Oversee stock control, supplier delivery standards, and purchasing procedures
- Prepare and manage staff rosters in line with business demand
People & Culture
- Lead, mentor and support the Front Office and Guest Services team
- Provide coaching and feedback to enhance performance and team morale
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance development
- Promote a culture of recognition, teamwork, and brand-aligned service
Guest Experience
- Champion our service style: Be Ready, Be Engaging, Be On It
- Resolve guest concerns efficiently and empathetically
- Ensure VIP guests and loyalty members receive outstanding attention
- Monitor guest feedback and drive continuous service improvements
Responsible Business Practices
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety throughout the hotel
- Support sustainability, risk management, and compliance initiatives
- Represent the IHG brand with professionalism and integrity
What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in a front office or hotel operations role
- Strong understanding of hotel systems and front office procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and across other locations if required
- Knowledge of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 is a plus
