Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Handy Person to join the team at Holiday Inn Express Macquarie Park.

This role is responsible for carrying out general maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative upkeep across the hotel in a timely and professional manner. You will play a key role in ensuring the property is maintained to IHG brand standards, WHS requirements, and operational expectations, while supporting a positive guest experience.

You will work closely with the Hotel Manager and wider hotel team to ensure all maintenance issues are addressed efficiently, guest requests are resolved promptly, and the property remains in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs including patching, painting, door repairs, light bulb replacement, and basic plumbing and bathroom maintenance
• Respond to guest maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas and address maintenance issues promptly
• Support the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and schedules
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies are maintained and stocked appropriately
• Assist with coordination of external contractors and trades when required
• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, WHS requirements, and hotel safety procedures
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed and report any major issues to management
• Support cost control by using materials and resources efficiently and within budget
• Promote a safe and clean working environment in line with OH&S policies
• Carry a two-way radio and respond promptly to hotel and guest requests
• Assist other departments where required to support overall hotel operations

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities role (hotel experience highly regarded)
• Good understanding of general building maintenance and repair work
• Strong awareness of WHS and safe work practices
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Reliable, punctual, and proactive approach to work
• Physically capable of manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 22kg and assisting with heavier items when required
